Dangers of Phthalates
so what even are phthalates? let's break it down- technically speaking they are “a salt or ester of phthalic acid.” when added to plastics they increase their flexibility, transparency, durability and longevity. phthalates are found in hundreds of products, including children’s toys, perfumes, soaps, food packaging and air fresheners.
when air fresheners include phthalates, you’re risking them being inhaled or absorbed into your skin. why is this dangerous? in a study done by the Guardian, phthalates were linked to numerous health issues such as asthma, ADHD, breast cancer, type II diabetes, neurodevelopmental issues and behavioral issues.
